Blood Group Vulnerable Heart Disease

According to recent studies, people with blood type A, AB and B are more likely to develop heart disease and a shorter life compared with people who have blood type O.

But it does not mean that people with blood type other than O should not worry, because the risk of heart disease and life span are also influenced by several factors, including exercise and overall body health.

In this study, the scientists collected data from about 50,000 middle-aged and elderly in northeast Iran, for an average of seven years. The results show that people who have blood other than O, 15 percent more likely to die from cardiovascular disease.

"It's very interesting to know that people with a certain blood type (not O) have a higher risk of dying due to certain diseases," said study researcher, Dr. Arash Etemadi, an epidemiologist at the US National Institutes of Health.

They were enrolled in the study were asked to provide data on cholesterol levels, glucose levels and blood pressure. Based on the analysis the researchers, people with blood type A tends to have high levels of bad cholesterol were higher.

People with non-O blood group also has a tendency to form blood clots, which can ultimately lead to heart disease.
